Balu attended College of Engineering - Guindy (CEG), Anna University in Chennai to receive his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. During Balu's CEG days he had an excellent friend named Ramesh. Balu used to visit his friend’s home for combined studies. During one such visit Balu came to know Ramesh’s father (Mr. Kuppuswamy's) passion of Vedic Astrology and Divisional Charts.

His intense desire to learn astrology out-weighed everything which resulted in Balu visiting Mr. Kuppuswamy to learn astrology. Balu expresses his indebtedness to Mr. Kuppuswamy who introduced the concepts of Drik Panchang, Divisional Charts, Ashtakavarga for predictive accuracy. Mr. Kuppuswamy presented the importance of Sakuna (omen) and nimitha (circumstances).

Systems Approach to Vedic Astrology (SATVA) was propounded by Prof. V.K. Choudhry. Balu’s astrological inquisitiveness made him explore this simple and powerful methodology to analyze birth charts and offer predictions in real-time. SATVA uses Drik Panchang on the principles of Vedic Astrology and divisional charts.
